If you asked my parents what they thought I would be when I grew up, they'd say I was destined to be a performer. When I was a little girl, my mom would find me in the kitchen holding up various canned foods, cups, kitchen spoons, anything I could find to use as props while talking and smiling proudly into my invisible camera. At first she figured like most kids, I just had an imaginary friend. Years later when I was still doing it- she realized I was talking to my "imaginary audience."
I got my first taste of legitimate acting when I was 5, in a 30-second TV commercial for Marriot Hotels. That led to various regional commercials and modeling which I continued when I moved to Las Vegas; and steered me to work on projects for CNN.com, The Discovery Channel, MTV and Rebel TV.
Growing up on the beautiful island of Maui, made me appreciate what life is really all about. Paradise will always be there for me, but I needed to stretch my wings and turn my imaginary audience into a real one! I moved here in 2005, earned my Bachelor's in Broadcast & Media Journalism from UNLV (Go Rebels!) and haven't been tempted to move since.
I first hit sin city's radio air waves working as a traffic reporter for Metro Networks. I moved on to work at Channel 8, KLAS-TV as the traffic anchor, where I quickly learned what "waking up early" means. I can still be found occasionally filling in as the traffic gal on FOX5's Morning News.
Now that I've been given the opportunity to work on the Coyote, I couldn't be happier! I have a newfound respect for country music and its' audience. Proud to be a country girl, I wear a cowboy hat and boots at every chance I get-and can belt out Garth Brooks with the best of 'em!
BIRTHDAY AND BIRTHPLACE: 8/21 (Leo Power!) San Pedro, California.
(Moved to Maui when I was 5.)
FAVORITE FOOD: BBQ, Pizza, Hawaiian food, anything with Ranch or Chocolate and...whatever you cook for me!
COUNTRY ARTISTS: Garth Brooks, Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith, Keith Urban, Sugarland
NON-COUNTRY ARTISTS: Incubus, Nine Inch Nails, 3-11, Mariah Carey, Enya
QUOTES THAT I LIVE BY: "Carpe Diem" & "Everything happens for a reason."
IF I WERE A TREE I WOULD BE... I wouldn't! I would be a flower, thank you very much. A sunflower or lilac rose.
PET PEEVE: People who are unaware of their surroundings.
IF I WASN'T IN BROADCASTING I'D BE...: (Probably unemployed!) But I've secretly always wanted to be a tour guide or psychologist.
IN MY DOWNTIME I CAN BE FOUND: At the beach (when there's one around), working out, reading, looking up my horoscope, doing experimental cooking... and listening to the Coyote, of course!
